Cryonics Freezer Alcor Sits in Phoenix Suburb with Meltdown Temperature. Does Cryonics have a Location Problem?

Spread the love

Immortalism.com (July 5, 2023)–Alcor, one of only two Cryonics freezer facilities in the United States (and the world?) is located in Scottsdale, Arizona. Yesterday, July 4th, 2023, the temperature soared to 43 degrees Celsius. That’s109 degrees Fahrenheit. Heatstroke temperature. The day before it was 44 C. Over 111 F. And today it will reach 44 C again. An “Extreme Heat Warning” covers metropolitan Phoenix, including Scottsdale, for this week. Maybe next too. While most of the U.S. will get relief soon, there’ll be little or none for Scottsdale. This is “normal” summer weather for Scottsdale. And thanks to global warming, it can only get worse. Why is a Cryonics freezer facility located in the Arizona desert?

Location, Location, Location

In real estate, it’s “location, location, location, location!” Does Cryonics have a location problem? Scottsdale, Arizona is a hell of a place for a Cryonics freezer facility! To have a prayer and the longest of long shots at immortality, Cryonics freezers must be able to somehow survive centuries, if not millennia.

As part of greater Phoenix, however, Scottsdale is part and parcel of the least sustainable American city. According to ClimateCheck.com, which has been cited by CNN and Washington Post: “Maricopa county, home to Phoenix, is one of six counties in Arizona at risk of becoming uninhabitable to humans in the next 20 to 40 years.”

Assuming one believes in the Cryonics faith that freezing the corpse upon death allows a future advanced society to resurrect it, one would think that Cryonics freezers should be situated in Antarctica or Greenland, or somewhere cold or at least cool. The last place you’d think of for a Cryonics freezer facility would be right smack in the middle of the Arizona desert! Yet, that’s exactly where Alcor is located.which In meltdown-hot Scottsdale, a suburb of Phoenix.

On YouTube, there are videos showing how it can get so boiling hot in greater Phoenix that you can cook an egg on the sidewalk or on your car hood. Or even in the inside of your car, if you have no air-conditioning. This is not the best of all possible worlds for a cryonics freezer, is it?

Although there are other factors involved in immortality hunting, location looms large, especially in a place like Scottsdale. But Cryonics seems oblivious to the importance of location. And this may be why Cryonics has a grave location problem.

It’s not just Alcor that has a location problem. The Cryonics Institute, the only other Cryonics freezer in the U.S., is located in Clinton Township, Michigan. That’s not in the middle of the desert. But it too has a serious location problem. Which we will explain next time, in our next article about Cryonics. xxxx
